Chad Finley began his
racing career at age 10 racing go-karts. Chad has accomplished a
lot in his young racing career. In 2003 he finished 3rd in the
East Lansing Kart Track Championship points, 2004 he was the East
Lansing Kart Track Champion and in 2005 he was the Great Lakes
Sprint Series Champion and 6th in the World Karting Association
along with several poles and National Events wins. You can also
see Chad Finley race his outlaw latemodel at the Owosso Speedway. Chad is a
development driver for Team Rensi Motorsports Nascar Busch Series Team.
During the 2006 season, he made select appearances in the
ASALMS Northern Division and was to make his debut at the Kalamazoo (MI)
Speedway on August 18, 2006 during the Lane Automotive 100 Presented by Tough
Coat Powder Coatings.
Finley
did make his on track debut under race conditions in the abbreviated GM
Performance Parts Shootout and finished fifth as the GMPPSO in this case, set
the field for what was to be the 100-lap Feature later that evening.
Unfortunately Mother Nature intervened and the ASALMS Northern Division event at
Kalamazoo was postponed and later cancelled.
The 14-year-old at the time made his official ASALMS Debut
the next night at the famed Berlin (MI) Raceway as part of the second day of the
2nd annual Mid-Michigan Doubles Weekend for the ASALMS Northern Division.
Finley’s debut saw the DeWitt, Michigan teenager come to the historic Marne,
Michigan fairgrounds oval gaining some experience at one of the toughest tracks
in the country let alone the state of Michigan.
Finley’s best finish came during his third and last race
in 2006; The 34th annual Keith Fleck Miller 100 Presented by Barron Motor Supply
at the Hawkeye Downs (IA) Speedway on September 1, 2006. Finley came home with a
16th place showing.
In
addition to his three appearances in the ASALMS Northern Division, Finley also
ran closer to home in an Outlaw Bodied Super Late Model at the Owosso Speedway
when his schedule allowed. Finley, despite missing half the season at the fast
0.375 Mile High-Banked Paved Oval, still managed to finish third in the tracks
premiere divisions’ Rookie of the Year title chase.
Finley’s Father is former ARCA Re/Max
Series star, Jeff Finley. In addition, his Uncle is Doug Finley,
both are stout Outlaw Bodied Super Late Model drivers in the
state of Michigan, and both have track championships at Owosso
as well as multiple track titles at the near-by Spartan (MI)
Speedway. Ironically, “Uncle Doug” steered Chad’s Outlaw Bodied
Super Late Model to the 2006 Track Championship at Spartan, the
fifth championship of his career at the Mason, Michigan speed
plant. 2007: Spartan speedway rookie
of the year with 1 pole, 6 top five finishes and 8 top ten
finishes in 10 starts. 11th in ASA owners points
