The famed Toledo Speedway, located just South of
the Michigan / Ohio state line in Toledo, Ohio was the site for the
next race on the 2008 Team Finley Racing calendar.
The Glass Breaker 125, the third race of the season for the ASA Late
Model Series Northern Division brought out a stellar 32-car field to
the famed ½ mile high-banked paved oval.
16-year-old Chad Finley was hoping to avenge what was a not so
memorable Memorial Day Weekend in Morris, Illinois where didn't make
the show. This time around, Finley would start the Glass Breaker
125, making the show, but it was far from easy.
The DeWitt, Michigan teenager qualified 25th, which forced him to
run the GM Performance Parts Shootout for the second straight
weekend. This time however, Finley transferred in as the Top Four
(4) cars from the Shootout would move on to the 125-lap Feature and
he finished fourth.
All that hard work to stay on the good side of transferring was for
naught however as immediately after the Shootout, ASALMS Co-Founders
/ Presidents, Ron and Sandy Varney elected to start every driver on
hand!
So Finley would start 28th in the Glass Breaker 125 and got up to as
high as 13th before contact with fellow teenager, Michael Bilderback
damaged Finley's AutoParts2020.com Ford Fusion with 16 laps to go.
The Team Finley Racing crew went to work on the race car and at the
end of the race, Chad finished 20th despite the damage to his
machine. Car owner Jeff Finley comments on the weekend " I think the
run we had at ORP set are hopes to high. We have struggled hard
lately to get a grip on things. Chad drove his butt off today here
to get us in the show. We pitted before the green flag and adjusted the
track bar some more and we where pretty good in the race we just
needed a few laps to get the tires up to snuff. The last caution
there we did not need. It bunched every body back up and
unfortunately the 2 car drove over are left rear and left front and
we where done after that. Its a shame we had a good run going."
There's little time to regroup as Team Finley
Racing will make the 10 plus hour trip to the LaCrosse Fairgrounds
Speedway, located East of the Minnesota / Wisconsin state line in
West Salem, Wisconsin for the fourth race of the season in the
ASALMS Northern Division, the River Run
100.
After LaCrosse, Finley will have a three week break from ASALMS
competition before celebrating the Fourth of July weekend at the
wicked fast high-banks of I-70 Speedway, located East of Kansas City
in Odessa, Missouri for the Light up the Night 150!
Thank You.
