Sorry it’s been awhile since we’ve had an update
from Team Finley Racing. A lot has been going on, so let’s get right
to it....
The ASA Late Model Series program was not up to expectations this
season! So the team regrouped, took their cars up to Howe Racing
Enterprises and had Chas Howe and the rest of the Howe team take a
good hard look at their machines.
"We’ve had some time off from the ASALMS to regroup and go through
the cars. We got a lot of updates and technical support that we have
been missing." Car Owner, Jeff Finley explained. "We took the cars
to our home track (Spartan Speedway) straight from Howe and tested.
They were pretty fast." He smiled.
Armed with revised machines and a new attitude, Finley and crew will
make the short trip down US-127 to their home track of Spartan
Speedway, located Southwest of Lansing in Mason, Michigan this
Friday, July 18, 2008 and compete with the Bollhoff Rivnut Super Pro
Series in the running of the Lipari Foods 75.
"I’m looking forward to racing the template car at my home track.
I’ve always wanted to run the Crate Engine in live racing conditions
there and the Super Pro Series is giving me that chance." Added Chad
Finley. "Hopefully we can do well in front of the home crowd and
come out of there with a Feature Win."
"From testing, I believe we found the problems that have hurt us,
but now it’s time to race!" Added Chad’s Father and Car Owner.
"We’ll see how we stack up against those Super Pro guys, we’ve never
run with them before, but it should be a lot of fun."
While the ASALMS cars have been getting overhauled, the 16-year-old
Finley has been racing the Outlaw Bodied Super Late Model at Spartan
throughout the last few weeks and back on May 9th, he won his first
career Feature!
So far in 2008 and despite missing some events due to his travels
with the ASALMS Northern Division, Finley is sixth in the season
long points chase. Along-with his Feature Win, Finley has also
recorded Four Top Fives and Two Preliminary event wins including his
own sponsors Northside Service Dash for Cash held during the Charlie
Ryan Jr., Memorial.
"We’ve had just a ton of fun lately running the Outlaw car, as well
as some really good finishes too." The elder Finley added. "We let
one get away last Friday. We had a Flat Tire while running second
but still pitted and finished fourth from the back. Chad has been
doing a great job so we will see what happens down the road."
Thanks everyone and we hope to see you on Friday, July 18th at the
"track the stars call home" Spartan Speedway as Chad looks to hold
back those invaders from the Super Pro Series and bring home a
Feature Win!
Thank You.
