Team Finley Racing survives the tight little quarter mile at
Rockford Speedway but not with out issues. They started the day out
with the ford fusion and were getting it better after some chassis
adjustments. At the start of the second practice they were taped up
and had new tires on ready to make a mach qualifying run when the
ford suffered driveline troubles. With no time left the team decided
to bring out the back up car. Chad's firsts laps were his qualifying
laps in the back up car. Out of turn 4 to complete the 1st lap Chad
spun and crossed the finish line backwards and placed 25th. Chad
tells his side of the lap "well to be honest we got in to 3 to easy
so I was trying to make it back up and squeezed the trigger to hard.
We had a heck of a lap going any way but I got greedy and paid the
price." As for the race Chad had to start his march to the front
from the rear of the field. On the 1st lap coming for the green
there was a big mix up in the front of the pack that sent several
cars scrambling, In turn 2 cars went into the wall and Chad stopped
to the high side and got rear ended heavily from behind pushing him
into the cars in front of him and breaking his left finger. Chad
drove the car back to pit road for repairs that cost him 2 laps and
got back on the track to salvage a 16th place finish. Chad reflects
on the night "Thanks to all the guys for getting it some what fixed
as best they could to make laps. She was towed out about 6 inches
and they got it back to 2 inches and taped it and taped and taped it
so we could finish. She's tore up pretty good so we will take it and
move on. My finger is broke in 2 spots and we will tape that up and
go testing so we can get back where we were. We are in a bad luck
string right now and we need to get out of it and get back towards
the front" Chad's Father Jeff Finley shares his thoughts "I think we
are all glad to see this day end. It was really hot today and
everything was so crowded and tight all over you new the race would
be the same way. We talked and new we needed lots of patience out
there tonight. Some other guys just don't get it yet. Its ridiculous
to wreck coming for the green at this level but that's racing. We
had it missed until someone for got to stop and cleaned are clock. I
would like to thank the guys for all there hard work and we also had
Tommy Fedewa with us this weekend and he took allot of pressure off
me so a big thanks to him as well. The next races are at home here
in Michigan so it will be nice to see some old friends and sleep in
my own bed afterwards." Team Finley Racing will be at Spartan
speedway Friday the 10 of august then off to the Michigan doubles
weekend on the weekend of the 17th and 18th of august. Thanks for
checking in and as always support are marketing partners when ya can
Thank You.
